We Need Effective Principal Leadership

For education transformation to become a reality and remain sustainable, we need effective principal leadership. I am passionate in my belief that principals can make a difference in schools. In fact, much of my research has centered on the notion that effective principals can directly impact student achievement. I have an article accepted for publication in the NASSP Bulletin that outlines some of my research, and I will be posting various white papers on the topic in the coming weeks.

Shelly Terrell has an outstanding blog, Teacher Reboot Camp, in which she recently interviewed successful principals. She found that these outstanding principals are “taking the first step in showing teachers the path to transparency and effective instructional practice.” Take the time to check out her blog and watch some of the interviews. They are thought-provoking and inspiring for any principal or those who aspire to become school leaders.

About mprater

I'm a recently retired school teacher/administrator continuing to help people grow through personal learning. When not blogging, I do consulting work for schools and organizations, make presentations at conferences, and research for publication. At the same time, I have to set aside enough time to enjoy the "good life" of retirement!
